TPU Application Fields
1. Smart Wearables: such as TPU wristbands and TPU mobile phone protective cases.
2. Apparel and Footwear: such as TPU shoe material cushions, outsoles, and uppers.
3. Industrial Engineering: such as TPU conveyor belts and adhesives.
4. Automotive Field: such as shift levers, shaft sleeves and washers for various couplings, connectors for various harnesses, spiral retractable wires, cable sheaths, toothed belts, sheaths and gaskets for steering rods, suspension joint hinges, hydraulic and pneumatic components, suspension diaphragms, shock absorber diaphragms, shock absorbers, spring limiters, etc. It can also be used in combination with other plastics or rubber for car bumpers, airbags, dust covers, and other parts.
5. Sports Field: such as sports skates and roller skates.
6. Home Life: such as coated fabric TPU.
7. Electronics and Electrical Appliances: such as TPU rubber coating.
Advantages and Disadvantages of TPU Material
Advantages: TPU material has excellent oil resistance, water resistance, mildew resistance, high mechanical strength, strong product load-bearing capacity, outstanding cold resistance, and good processing performance.
Disadvantages: TPU material will yellow over time. Although there are UV-resistant raw materials on the market, these materials only reduce the yellowing of the finished product and cannot fundamentally change the yellowing.
TPU Usage Precautions
1. TPU Material Drying: Because TPU is hygroscopic and easily hydrolyzed, insufficiently dried TPU material can lead to processing difficulties. Drying is necessary before processing. If color powder or masterbatch is used for dyeing, it must be thoroughly mixed with the TPU base particles before drying. Generally, a circulating air dryer or dryer is used to dry TPU. Depending on the hardness, the drying temperature is 80-110℃, and the time is about 3 hours.
2. Extrusion Processing: A single-screw three-stage extruder with an L/D ratio of 20-30 and a compression ratio of 2-4 is suitable for TPU processing. The gap between the screw and barrel is about 0.1-0.2mm, and the screw speed is set in the range of 25-60rpm.
3. Injection Molding Processing: Because TPU has high viscosity when melted, it is easy to cause high shear force in the barrel and damage the physical properties of TPU itself. Therefore, an injection molding machine with a screw length-diameter ratio (L/D) of about 16-20 and a compression ratio of 2.0-2.5 is generally more suitable.
4. TPU Raw Material Coloring: Color powder: 0.2-0.5% Masterbatch: 1-4%
